Rajnath reviews drones, robotic dog at tech meet
After inaugurating the North Tech Symposium in Prayagraj, defence minister Rajnath Singh visited the exhibition arena where live demonstrations of advanced military technologies were showcased. Accompanied by Chief of Army Staff Gen Upendra Dwivedi, the minister closely reviewed cutting-edge equipment developed by Indian defence firms, start-ups and research organisations.More than a dozen systems were demonstrated before the minister and other dignitaries, reflecting the growing emphasis on indigenous innovation. The displays included advanced drones, unmanned aerial systems and surveillance platforms, which are increasingly becoming central to modern warfare.Among the key attractions were robotic systems, including a quadruped “robotic dog” capable of assisting troops and even engaging targets in combat situations if required, along with a range of all-terrain vehicles designed for mobility in difficult terrains.Officials said the live demonstrations highlighted how emerging technologies — from autonomous systems to next-generation mobility platforms — are transforming battlefield capabilities, aligning with the Army’s push for self-reliance and technological superiority.
